Guthrie has the largest contiguous historic district in Oklahoma, and working in those homes is a different discipline than working in a modern build. Original floors, hand-built framing, and a century of settling mean nothing is square and nothing is level — and the right response is to work with that rather than fight it.

In historic homes, material selection matters as much as installation. A wide-plank engineered floor in a period-appropriate species reads correctly in a Victorian; a glossy modern laminate does not. Hexagon and basketweave tile suit original bathrooms in a way that current large-format porcelain never will. We are happy to talk through what fits the building.

Subfloor work is the bulk of the labor in these projects. Original pine subfloors are often still usable but rarely flat, and there is real judgment involved in deciding how much to correct versus how much character to leave. We talk that through with you before the estimate rather than deciding it unilaterally with a bag of leveler.

Outside the historic district, Guthrie also has plenty of newer construction where the work is more straightforward — whole-home LVP, tile, and bathroom remodels. Either way, estimates are free and we cover the drive.
